Pine Bluff

Carey G. Tomlinson, LtCol (USA, Ret.), of Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away on September 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving daughters. He was born July 31, 1936, in Memphis, Tennessee, to James F. and Betty Rafferty Tomlinson, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his brothers James Tomlinson, Tommy Tomlinson, Ralph Tomlinson, and sisters Betty Ann Hadaway and Linda Younger.

Carey graduated from Arkansas State University, where he was a proud member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He went on to serve 21 years in the United States Army, with assignments that took him around the world, including two tours in Vietnam. His distinguished military career was recognized with numerous medals and commendations, among them the Legion of Merit and five Bronze Star Medals.

Carey married the love of his life, Roslyn Russell Tomlinson, on October 2, 1960, at Fort Benning, Georgia. Together they raised three children: Cari (Jim) Foscue of Huntsville, AL; Michelle (Michael) Mantuano of Little Rock, AR; and the late Michael Tomlinson. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Roz, and son, Michael David.

Carey was especially devoted to his grandchildren—Kevin Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Megan Riggins, and Caroline Foscue — and deeply cherished his great-grandchildren: Caroline, Michael, Korbin, Jack, and Brooks.

Beyond his military service, Carey was President of Tomlinson Avionics. He lived a full and active life pursing many passions, including flying, cattle ranching, hunting, fishing, and golfing.

With full military honors, Carey will be interred at Evening Shade–Sharp Cemetery alongside his wife and son.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who shared in his care.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Evening Shade United Methodist Church, 177 Sorrel Rd, Evening Shade, Arkansas.
