James Edward Holstine, of Elizabeth, son of the late Luther Holstine and Alpha Williams Holstine, was born May 26, 1939 in Elizabeth, AR. He died August 25, 2014 at Barns Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 75 years 2 months and 30 days.

He was united in marriage to Rosetta Foster June 1, 1957 in Viola. To this union, five daughters were born. He was a self-employed dairy/ beef cattle farmer. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of the fmaily home; his daughters: Sheila Middlebrooks of Viola, Marvene Mills and husband Bob of Viola, Yvonne Burch and husband Jeff of Viola, Lea Ann Dunn and husband Tracy of Elizabeth, and Duana Batterton and husband Mike of Viola; twelve grandchildren: Jake, Kristin, Nathan, Isaac, Kellyn, Lauren, Sara, Kyla, Dylan, Tate, Keagen, and Kohl; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers: J.H. Holstine of Caulfield, MO, and Joe Holstine and wife Shirley of Richmond, Kansas; three sisters: Mary Ruth Baker of Elizabeth, Louise Crotts of Mountain Home, and Devene Gilbreath and husband Ray of Ash Flat; one brother-in-law: A.J. Baker of Viola; and sister-in-law Jill Holstine of Viola, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one great-granddaughter, Rosetta Mae Middlebrooks; one sister: Joy Lee Baker; two brothers: Cleo Holstine, and Carmon Holstine; two brothers-in-law: Roy J. Baker, and Doyle Crotts; one sister-in-law: Juanita Holstine.

Pallbearers will be: Bob Mills, Jeff Burch, Mike Batterton, Tracy Dunn,Jake Middlesbrooks, Nathan Burch, Isaac Middlebrooks, and Dylan Holstine. Honorary pallbearers are Keagen Dunn, Tate Batterton and Kohl Batterton.

Services are Friday, August 29, 2014 at 2 pm at Flora Baptist Church with burial to follow in Flora Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem. Visitation is Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Cox-Blevins Chapel.
