Jackie "Jack" Dean Grimmett

Jackie “Jack” Dean Grimmett, 79, of Oxford, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023, in Oxford.

Jack was born in Violet Hill, Arkansas, on December 14, 1943, son of the late Cecil and Opal (Stone) Grimmett. Jack was united in marriage to Willene Ball in Oxford, Arkansas, on September 18, 1964, and from this union one son was born, Justin. Jack began his working career employed as the head mechanic for the Izard County Highway Department, and later transferred to Boeing Aircraft, in Melbourne Ar. Jack was well known for "J & W Sorghum" distributing his product all over the world. Jack was an outdoorsman. He enjoyed raising chickens, beagles and bird dogs: always appreciating a great bird hunt. Jack was most fond of his horses, acquiring a deep appreciation for their beauty, and a keen eye for their talent. Jack spent the majority of his life as a trainer, breeder, and showman, competing in the top equestrian events in Arkansas, Texas, Missouri, and Louisiana, capturing the World Show in Ava, Missouri. Jack was a true horseman. Jack’s greatest love with his family and spending time with them. He was a member of Oxford Baptist Church in Oxford, Arkansas.

Jack is survived by his wife, Willene Grimmett of Oxford, Arkansas and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Justin Grimmett; parents; sister, Barbara Grimmett and brothers, Bobby Grimmett and Jimmie Grimmett.

Pallbearers include: Larry Arnold, Hal Wilkes Toby McCurley, Alan Estes, Thad Crider and Casey Hall

Honorary pallbearers include: Darrell Ball, Harold Ball, Carrol Ball and Harold Burgess

Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 25, 2023, beginning at 12:30 PM with Bro. Tom Doty officiating at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Arkansas. Visitation will be prior to the service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM at Doty Family Funeral Service Chapel in Salem, Arkansas.
