James “Jim” Robert Edgar, 68, passed away on July 9, 2026. He was born on January 3, 1958, at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville, Illinois, to Charles and Mary Edgar.

Jim spent much of his life in Kansas City, Missouri, before making Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, his home.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an Electrician’s Mate aboard the USS Saratoga. He was proud of his military service and carried that pride throughout his life.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Jim’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, Sevia Edgar; his children: Jared Edgar, and wife, Lisa; Jamie Davis and family; Cayla Douthitt, and family; and Evan Edgar, his wife, Brooke, and their son, Reece James “RJ” Edgar. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Jordan Miller and family; Jasmine Hatten and family; his sisters, Patsy Scheck, her husband, Erik; Gloria Champion, her husband, Wayne; and Cindy Johnson, her husband, Larry; his brother, Mike Edgar; along with several beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Mary Edgar; his wife, Eirin Edgar; and his brother, RJ Edgar.

Jim was known for his generous heart and his willingness to help anyone in need. He had a gift for auto body work and was a self-taught handyman who could fix just about anything. Whether restoring a vehicle or repairing something around the house, he took pride in his work and was always ready to lend a helping hand.

Above all else, Jim loved his family. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandson, Reece James “RJ” Edgar, making memories that will be cherished forever. He lived a life defined by kindness, hard work, and quiet strength, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Jim will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his love, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and country. His legacy of compassion, service, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Memorial services will be Sunday, July 19, 2026, beginning at 3:00 PM at Doty Family Funeral Service Chapel in Salem, Arkansas.
