Lona Marie Byrd, 69, of Melbourne, Arkansas passed away Monday, April 27, 2020, at her home in Melbourne.
She was born in Mountain Pine, Arkansas on June 1, 1950, daughter of the late Clarence and Norma Wilmoth. Lona spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was united in marriage to the late George “Spud” Byrd and they were married for 37 years. Lona was a member of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah Witness Church in Melbourne, she was baptized on Easter Sunday of 2020, and she loved her congregation very much. During her working years, she worked for the dietary department at the nursing home.
Lona is survived by her son, Bobby Byrd (Tephaine) of Oxford, Arkansas; daughters, Sharon Baugh of Adkins, Arkansas, Georgette McCauley (Robert) of Malvern, Arkansas, and Samantha Byrd of Little Rock, Arkansas; brother, Clarence Wilmoth, Jr. of Maumelle, Arkansas; sister, Jean Moore (Darrell) of Biglow, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Andrew Allen, James McCauley, Kevin McCauley, Julian Linton, Robert Byrd, Charity Irving, Robert Smith and Chris Smith and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Spud Byrd and parents, Clarence and Norma Wilmoth.
