Marjorie Lynn Bystrom

Marjorie “Marji” Lynn Bystrom passed away peacefully in her home in Salem, Arkansas, and joined Jesus on June 2nd, 2024, at the age of 73.

Marji was born to Theron and Darlie Cox on October 28th, 1950, in Ainsworth, Nebraska. As a child she excelled in school and enjoyed spending time with her grandmother, Lillian Grandorff.

Marji met her husband, Michael Bystrom, at the Riverview Dance Club; where she used the opening line, “Hey there blue sweater.” A year later they were married in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1969. They had three children, Chadney, Jill and Michaela. Even though the family lived in several states, her love of the Nebraska Huskers never wavered. “Go Big Red.”

Being a loving and dedicated mother, her passion for teaching children was discovered. This led her to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. As the director of several childcare centers, “Miss Marji” influenced the lives of many children until she retired in 2021.

Marji held an unwavering love for her grandchildren and great granddaughter. She was often heard telling them, “I love you, Always have, Always will.” “Nana” might have been Marji’s favorite title of all.

Marji leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and kindness. She is survived by her husband, Michael; her children, Chad, Jill, and Michaela; her son-in-law, Charles; her grandchildren, Kody, Chase, Payton, Lillian, Vivian and Colton and her great granddaughter, Kyler.
