Virginia Ann Martin, of Salem, daughter of the late Paul M. Alexander and Ellen Louise Craig Alexander, was born June 17, 1935 in Urbana, Ohio. She died September 4, 2015 at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, Missouri at the age of 80 years 2 months and 18 days.

She was united in marriage to Norman L. Martin October 16, 1953 in Urbana, OH. She was service coordinator for the developmentally disabled at the Network of Community Options and the Martin Center in Ash Flat. The Martin Center was named after Virginia and her husband for the work they did. She loved animals and the outdoors. She loved watching all sports. She was of the Presbyterian faith.

Survivors include her children: William (Bill) Martin and wife Starla of Salem; Donald Michael Martin and wife Pam of Harrison; Virginia Lee Williams and husband Tim of Glencoe and Fara Sue Cheever and husband Glenn of West Plains, MO; her grandchildren: Talisa Savana Martin, Brandon Martin and wife Maya, Aaron Martin and wife Courtney, Austin Williams and wife Sarah, Jesse Cheever and wife Megan and Chasity Farris and husband Billy; her great-grandchildren: Jacob Martin, William Farris and Ellasyn Farris; her siblings: Sally Groves of West Liberty, OH; Cindy Rose and husband Bill of Columbus, OH; Jim Alexander and wife Pat of Colorado Springs, CO; and sister-in-law, Lillian Martin of Sorrento, FL. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Tina Martin, brother, Gary Alexander, brother-in-law, Richard Groves and her father and mother. Memorials may be made to the Martin Center at Ash Flat; the Altzheimers Assoc. or the MS Society.

A visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015 from 6 to 7:30 pm at Cox-Blevins Chapel in Salem under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem. There will be a private graveside memorial service at a later date. Sign the online guest book http://www.coxblevinsfuneralhome.com.
