Mary Lou Wilkes

Mary Lou Wilkes, 85, of Ash Flat, Arkansas, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, in the company of her children at Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Arkansas. 

She was born in Ash Flat, Arkansas on February 21, 1932, daughter of the late Lillian Mae (Harrison) and Joe Howell. Mary Lou spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was united in marriage to the late Edwin Bernard Wilkes. Mary Lou was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Evening Shade, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and loved cooking for her family.

Mary Lou is survived by her children, John Wilkes, Gary Wilkes and wife Jane, Carol Young and husband Joe and Gina Mobley; 9 grandchildren, Chris Wilkes, Shanna Maness, Amanda Hall, Kristen Hyslip, Hannah Ray, Haley Young, Nicole Sawyer, Sarah Quinn and Edwin Mobley and 16 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lillian Howell; brother, Billy Don Howell and granddaughter, Melissa Paap.

Funeral services will be Sunday, September 3, 2017 beginning at 3:00 PM with Bro. John Deaton officiating at Calvary Baptist Church, 3388 Highway 167 Evening Shade, Arkansas. Interment will follow at Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
