Velda Jean Hinton

Velda Jean Hinton, 85, of Viola, Arkansas passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, in Batesville, Arkansas.

She was born in Cave Springs, Arkansas, on December 9, 1938, daughter of the late Verda and Edna (Fisher) Downum. She was united in marriage to the late Delter Hinton on January 2, 1955, in Arizona, and to this union three children were born. Velda worked in quality control at Brockway Glass in California for 30 years. She was of the Baptist faith.  

Velda is survived by her children, Lisa Baxter (Mike) of Westminster, Colorado and Jeffrey Steele Hinton of Viola, Arkansas; grandchildren, Adam Baxter, Amanda Hinton, Ashley Steele and Matthew Baxter; great grandchildren, Tyler, Delilah, Isabella, Elanore, Brockton, Brenna and Maedin and brothers, Vearl Downum and Wayne Yount.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delter Hinton; son, Kenneth Hinton; parents, Verda Downum and Edna Downum Yount and brother, David Yount.

Graveside services will be in Elm Springs Cemetery in Elm Springs, Arkansas, at 11:00 AM on March 2, 2024. Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate Velda’s life.
