William “Duane” Barber, of Viola, son of the late John Arch Barber and Jessie Clements Barber, was born November 2, 1937 in Viola, Arkansas. He died October 2, 2016 at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 78 years and 11 months.
He was united in marriage to Sue Baker on June 10, 1960 in Salem, Arkansas. During his working years he was an owner-operator of a dump truck service. He was a volunteer with the Viola Fire Department for many years. He loved his family, and was always there when they or anyone else needed him. He had an extremely big heart. He was a member of Enterprise Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sue of the family home; children: Carla Barber of Conway, Arkansas, Russell Barber of Conway, Arkansas, and Jessica Garrison and husband Paul of Sturkie, Arkansas; grandson’s Owen and John Garrison; siblings: Patty Cambron of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, J.D. Barber of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Author Barber of Van Dale, Arkansas, and Wanda Cotter of Viola, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by sister’s: Una Barber, Marie Tackitt, Essie Mabes, Fannie Painter, and Helen White; brother’s: Loyd Barber and Andrew Junior Barber; and his father and mother.
Pallbearers are: Allen Painter, Justin Luther, Leroy Moore, J.T. Tackitt, Cody Cotter, and Dennis WIlliams. Honorary pallbearers: Harold Cotter, Phillip Cotter, and Richard Rife.
Visitation is Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Cox-Blevins Funeral Home beginning at 6 pm. Services are Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Enterprise Baptist Church in Viola, Arkansas beginning at 2 pm, with David Holman and Robert Lash officiating.
