Billy Glen Hoover, 83, of Ash Flat, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, March 28, 2021, in Ash Flat.

He was born in Lodge Corner, Arkansas on December 10, 1937, son of the late Colvin Columbus and Bessie Manervia (Fry) Hoover. Billy spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was united in marriage to Lynn Marlene Oberg on July 14, 1984 in Chicago, Illinois. Billy served our country in the United States Air Force. During his working years, Billy worked as a machinist. He was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Ash Flat. Billy was a Mason and belonged to the Masonic Lodge in Chicago. He loved to play country music and was quite the musician. Billy played music all over this area and had his own band and is a member of the West Plains Country Music Hall of Fame. He loved to play baseball and was a member of the Bell & Howell Factory baseball team where he played short stop and pitcher. Above all, Billy loved his family and loved spending time with them.

Billy is survived by his wife, Lynn Hoover of Ash Flat, Arkansas; son, James Harvey and wife Robin of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; daughters, Lita Hoover of Chicago, Illinois, Carla Hoover of Evanston, Illinois, Stephanie Hoover of Chicago, Illinois, Christina Equitz of Chicago, Illinois and Samantha Phillips and husband David of Cherokee Village, Arkansas; sisters, Nellie Dwyer of Cabot, Arkansas and Rita Faye Talbert of Warner Robins, Georgia; grandchildren, Zachary, Victoria, Savannah, Lily, Amber, David II, Kennedi, Elijah, Keegan and Graicen and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mose Hoover, Carl Hoover, Benny Hoover, Dale Hoover, Lonnie Hoover and Wayne Hoover and sisters, Irma Hoover and Minnie Drye.

Pallbearers include: Jim Harvey, Dave Phillips, Elijah Equitz, Keegan Equitz, Steven Hoover and Gary Oberg

Funeral services will be Friday, April 2, 2021 beginning at 1:00 PM at Crossroads Baptist Church in Ash Flat, Arkansas with Bro. Henry Parker and Bro. Charley Yates officiating. Interment will follow at Wiles Cemetery in Ash Flat, Arkansas. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00 AM.
