George Edward Wright

George Edward Wright, 91, of Viola, Arkansas, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at his home in Viola.

He was born in Hawkins, Texas on April 2, 1928, son of the late Lonnie James and Ella May (Gill) Wright. George spent his life as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He served our country in the United States Army and during his working years as a truck driver for over 40 years. George was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed working puzzles and fishing. George loved to work in the garden and was often called a master at gardening. He loved his family and spending time with them especially his grandkids. 

George is survived by his daughter, Connie Hon and husband Benny; grandchildren, James Day of Wild Cherry, Arkansas, Jerry Day of Conroe, Texas, Chris Hon of Jackson, Missouri and Keith Hon and wife Tina of Jackson, Missouri; great grandchildren, Devyn Day, Brice Day, Zayne Day, Jacob Day and Jenna Day all of Texas; great-great granddaughter, Emberly Day and special friend, Jody Sparks. 

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beatrice Ellis Wright; second wife, Mary Jo Gentry Wright and parents, Lonnie and Ella Wright.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 4, 2019 beginning at 10:00 AM with Bro. Tom Doty officiating at Doty Family Funeral Service Chapel in Salem, Arkansas. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 AM. Graveside service and burial will be Thursday, September 5, 2019 beginning at 11:00 AM at Jim English Cemetery in Crockett, Texas.
